The Student Association is comprised of three branches, each working to serve the student body. As the main advocacy organization, they serve as liaisons between university administrators and every student who goes to The George Washington University. The three branches of the Student Association are the Executive, Senate, and Student Court.
The Executive Cabinet is comprised of the President, Vice Presidents, and Directors who each work on a specific topic ranging anywhere from academic affairs to diversity on campus.
The Senate is comprised of individuals elected to represent the different schools within GW and is led by the Executive Vice President. They form the five standing committees on Rules, Finance, Graduate Affairs, Student Life, and Academic Affairs. They pass legislation to allocate funds for student organizations, recognize service to the University, and support student movements on campus.
The Student Court has the jurisdiction to adjudicate on disputes between parties within the Student Association regarding the constitutionality of any action; all appeals of decisions by the Joint Elections Committee from participants in Student Association elections; cases not within its constitutional jurisdiction, provided that the parties involved agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the Court; and funding disputes between registered student organizations receiving Student Association monies.
Each branch works to serve the student body while remaining true to the core values of communication and accessibility, becoming a greater resource, and improving campus life.
